The project Flags is a continuation of the project Interventions, where I try to fit an artificial object into the natural environment. The red flag is a symbol of danger. It has many uses. In my case, it represents the danger of the disappearance of the natural landscape in the Alps. This project was realized on a very popular tourist route in the Alps. And this is a place where people interact directly with the untouched nature. But due to the large number of tourists, the mountains turn into a museum, where thousands of people want to take photos against the backdrop of the dwindling glaciers. Every year, large areas of forest in the mountain regions are cleared for the construction of ski slopes and recreation centers, disturbing the natural balance in the mountains. Due to global warming, Alpine glaciers are melting very rapidly. If greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, Alpine glaciers are expected to lose more than 80% of their current mass by 2100. They supply the rivers with water that is so important for people, animals and plants throughout Europe.
