Wildlands, are natural environments on Earth that have not been significantly modified by human activity or any nonurbanized land not under extensive agricultural cultivation. For most of human history, the greater part of Earth's terrain was wilderness, and human attention was concentrated on settled areas. But now the situation has changed radically. The industrial revolution, population growth, urban sprawl and expansion, infrastructure development (roads, highways, power lines), demand for resources and goods such as food, fuel, water, timber, minerals, etc., lack of protection of wilderness by policy, pollution, invasive species - this is an incomplete list of direct interventions in the landscape. Pristine nature now faces a major indirect impact from global environmental change. The new study shows that only 5-20% of the Earth's land surface is currently untouched by humans.
In this project, I place artificial objects in the natural environment, change the landscape and simulate human activities. In this way I demonstrate the process of transition from natural to human. For me as an artist, it is important to interact with the environment, to influence it and change it in an artistic way. When I intervene, I try to accentuate the landscape, add to it, visually enrich it, and not destroy it. I use the landscape as a blank slate, a starting point for my creative endeavors. But for the most part, the landscape always dictates the rules, and I just adapt to them.
